Features What this web version adds

Works in both Jedi Knight and Mysteries of the Sith.

Play online

  • Host or join from the game's Multiplayer menu.
  • Browsers connect directly, with the lobby as a fallback.
  • No install, port forwarding or account.

Custom maps and mods

  • Don't have the maps or mods the host does? No worries, they get downloaded automatically from the host and you get in the game right away.
  • Mix and match mods from your game folder.
  • Original game files are never sent.

Sabers and screenshots

  • Sabers light their surroundings in the blade's color.
  • F12 saves screenshots to Your Screenshots.

Kept for next time

  • Characters and controls come in from your game folder.
  • Settings, maps, mods and which mods you ticked are saved in this browser.

Getting Started

  1. You need Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II installed on this computer, for example from Steam or GOG. In Steam, right-click the game, then choose Manage, then Browse local files to see where it is.
  2. Click Play JKDF2 or any room, then pick the game's folder: the one with the episode and resource folders inside.
  3. When the game starts, choose Multiplayer to host a match or join one.
  4. To play with mods, put them in the game folder: in a mod or mods folder, in a folder of their own, or as a GOB in Resource. GOBs, zip files and unzipped mods all work, and so do JK Patch Commander's patches. After you pick the game folder, each mod it finds has its own checkbox. They start ticked, and you can untick any, or all of them at once with Select all. This browser remembers which you left unticked for next time. Players who join you get them too, and if you join a game with other mods, yours are swapped for the host's.

Your Files

  • Your game stays on your computer. When you pick your game folder, this page reads the files on your computer and loads them into the game in this browser tab. They aren't uploaded to our server.
  • Except custom maps and mods you host. When you host a custom map or play with a mod, players who join without it get a copy from your browser, directly or passed through our server, which doesn't keep it. Files from the original game are never sent: each player's browser fills those in from their own copy.
  • Why we ask for the folder. This web version comes with no game files at all, so it only runs from a copy of the game you already have. The check makes sure the folder holds the game's files before it starts.
  • About the browser's "upload" message. Your browser may ask whether to "upload" the files. That's its standard wording for letting a page read a folder. The files still stay on your computer.
  • Your characters and controls are saved in this browser, so they're there next time.
  • So are your screenshots, under Your Screenshots. Clearing this site's data in your browser deletes them, so download the ones you want to keep.

Your Screenshots

Press F12 in a game, or the key you set for screenshots, and the picture is saved here, in this browser.

    Game Help

    • Use a current Chrome or Firefox on a computer. Phones and tablets can't open a game folder.
    • If the page says files are missing, you picked a folder one level too high or too low. Pick the one that has episode and resource directly inside.
    • The game needs WebGL 2. If it won't start, turn on hardware acceleration in your browser's settings.

    Pick your game folder

Choose the folder where Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II (or Mysteries of the Sith) is installed: the one with the episode and resource folders inside.

Your browser may ask whether to "upload" the files. That's just its standard wording for letting this page read them. Choose Upload to continue.
